CLIMA® MANAGEMENT, issue 108

September 2026

During the summer, the European Commission published the new legal framework for sustainability reporting for businesses. It became clear that half the pages of legislation and simplified monitoring rules are sufficient. At the same time, the Commission is considering a one‑year postponement of the Regulation on methane emissions from imported fuels. The Regulation’s requirements are difficult to achieve and will likely not lead to a world with lower emissions, but rather to a Europe with more expensive oil.

Ultimately, the goal is not the complexity of laws or the increase in bureaucracy, but the identification of practical solutions for the transition to an era without fossil fuels. Especially for Greece, this may mean thinking outside the usual patterns. For example, installing PV systems, batteries, and heat pumps to strengthen the energy resilience of schools instead of requesting new oil burners.
